Tambaram Region

Tamabaram is one of the fast developing suburbs of Chennai, situated at around 30 kms South of Chennai City. Tambaram is also termed as 'Gate-way to South India' as it is located on the Grand Southern Trunk Road, which connects India to the Southern parts of Tamil Nadu.

There are many industrial estates in and around Tambaram, the famous being Madras Exports Processing Zone(MEPZ) and the Guindy Industrial Estate which is one of the oldest Industrial Estate in the country. In the recent years tremendous industrial growth has been witnessed to the South of Tambaram especially at Mahindra City, Singa Perumal Koil and Marai Malai Nagar areas. In order to cater to the needs of Members/Subscribers of these areas, an Office was opened at Tambaram on 06.11.1998

During the 184th Meeting of EPF Central Board of Trustees, it was decided to create new region out if the existing regions. Thus, the Tambaram Region was carved out of Chennai Region with Offices on 11.03.2009 with Regional Office at Tambaram and Sub-Regional Offices at Vellore and Puducherry.

EPFO, Tambaram Region caters to the Social Security Needs of around 12 Lakh Members employed in around 10943 establishments, in the areas covering the parts of Chennai, Kancheepuram, Tiruvalluvar, Vellore, Tiruvanamalai and Union Territory of Puducherry (along with Karaikal area).
